Integral route of the Eastern Pyrenees that crosses all its most emblematic peaks, valleys and corners.

A high mountain route that allows you to join the two most emblematic places in the eastern Pyrenees, with the two peaks that crown them: El Puigmal (2,910 m) and Pica del Canigó (2,784 m). In between we will discover valleys and ridges of great hiking tradition, such as the valleys of Núria and Coma de Vaca, the circus of Ulldeter, the Esquerdes de Rojà, the Pla Guillem, the Vall de Marialles, Mentet or Carançà. The perfect trek to get to know the best places in the high Mediterranean Pyrenees, both on its southern and northern slopes, from lush forests to the highest peaks, and from the most isolated villages to the deepest valleys. Route and profile

This trek offers two options: the Torb Standard is the 5-day circle between the Núria valley and the Canigó massif, passing through Coma de Vaca, Ulldeter, Merialles, Mentet and Carançà. On the other hand, the Torb Altitude proposes 7 days and 7 peaks, doing the stages of the Torb Standard, but climbing a peak every day, and adding the ascents to the two most emblematic peaks of the Eastern Pyrenees: the Puigmal (2,910 m ) and the Canigó (2,784 m).

Refugis del Torb is a self-guided hike, that everyone can do on their own, in which we provide you with the reservation of accommodation and all the information and services needed to walk safely and comfortably. Straightaway we answer the most common questions.

Accommodation

Accommodation along the trek includes mountain refuges, hostels and a gîte d’étape. If you want to rest in a village before or after walking, you can stay in Ribes de Freser or Setcases, from where you can get to know the charming villages of these beautiful Pyrenean valleys.

Natural environment

The Refugis del Torb crossing passes through places of high natural interest, some of which have various environmental protection figures, such as two Natural Parks and three Nature Reserves that we will cross along the route. The biogeographical features are fairly homogeneous with the altitudinal variants and the south – north face differences. If you are interested, we will delve into this section.

Historical and cultural context

The trek Refugis del Torb offers the participant a scenic tour of our past‘s episodes, of a generous common history both from the point of view of livestock, religious, architectural and literary. The same country separated by a border as a result of the Treaty of the Pyrenees, with large monasteries of high artistic and architectural load on both sides of the mountain.
